What this site does and does not collect, why your income never reaches a URL, and how that promise is enforced in code rather than in prose.
Nothing you type is sent anywhere
Every calculator runs in your browser. There is no account, no login, and no server that receives what you enter. Your balance, income and household size are never transmitted to this site, because there is nothing here to transmit them to.
Your income never reaches a URL, and that is enforced
A URL is a leaky place. It sits in your browser history, is logged by every proxy it crosses, and is handed to the next site you visit in a referrer header. So the keys this site may write into the address bar are an allowlist, and the personal ones are deliberately absent from it.
Writable: rate, years, term, cost, country, state, prov, plan, filing, subsidized. Every one of those is a published figure or a jurisdiction, and none of them says anything about you.
Readable from a link but never written into one: balance, agi, income, payment, extra, contribution, dependents, family, salary. If someone sends you a link with an income in it, this site will use it and will not put it back.
A test asserts that separation on every build. It is a promise kept in code rather than in this paragraph, which is the only kind worth making. More on how it works.
Advertising
No advertising is running at present. The slots exist in the code and render nothing until a real publisher ID is configured, so no advertising script is loaded and no advertising cookie is set.
Analytics
None. No analytics script runs on this site, so there is no visit log, no session recording and no profile.
Fonts and other requests
The typefaces are served from this site rather than from a font host, so loading a page does not tell a third party that you visited. Links out to government sources are ordinary links; following one takes you to that agency, under its own privacy policy.
